Marcos ‘concerned’ over Percy Lapid slay, Palace eyes probe report in 7 days

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is “concerned” over the killing of radio broadcaster Percy Lapid in Las Piñas on Monday night, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevara said on Tuesday.

Guevara said he had been tasked to take a look at the investigation of the fatal shooting.

"The Office of the President, particularly PBBM (Marcos), is concerned of what happened to Percy Lapid,” Guevara said.

“In fact, we have been instructed to take a look at the conduct of the investigation on the ambush of him last night,” he added.

Guevara said he would meet with the authorities to ensure that "the conduct of investigation proceeds without any problem and submit to us, report to us hopefully within the next seven days."

"I was in communication with certain officials who advised me that the Southern Police District has created a task force on Percy Lapid," Guevara said.

Lapid was shot dead by two men while on his way home in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. A relative of the victim said Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast at the time of the incident.

A Special Investigation Task Force has been created by the Las Piñas City Station of NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office) to spearhead and coordinate the investigative and prosecutorial efforts of the police. —NB, GMA News
