PUV stops along Commonwealth Avenue established before Christmas — MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday it would establish designated stops for public utility vehicles (PUVs) along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City before Christmas.

“Inaasahan po ng aming [MMDA acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga III] na sisimulan na po ito before Christmas (Our chairman expects to start the use of designated stops before Christmas),” MMDA spokesperson Mel Carunungan said at a public briefing.

On Thursday, Dimayuga said he sought the assistance of the Quezon City government and jeepney operators in identifying the loading and unloading areas along Commonwealth Avenue.

“Through this, we could strategize on how the PUVs could maneuver to their designated stops. We would like to confine pedestrians to designated loading and unloading areas,” he said.

Pasang Masda president Obet Martin expressed support for the plan of the MMDA and thanked the agency for addressing the concerns of jeepney operators. — VBL, GMA News
