COVID-19 positivity rate in NCR dropped to 7.8% — OCTA

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) went down to 7.8%, according to independent group OCTA research on Wednesday.

In a tweet, OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said the seven-day positivity rate in the NCR dropped to 7.8% as of November 7 from 9.5% on October 31.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

David said the average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the region was 1.54 per 100,000 population as of November 8, with a one week growth rate of -29%.

ADAR is the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

Meanwhile, the reproduction number in the NCR also remained low at 0.75 as of November 5, according to David.

Reproduction rate refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

The healthcare utilization rate in the region also remained low at 26% as of November 7.

“The current trends, if they continue, could lead to less than 5% positivity rate and about 100 new cases per day in the NCR by end of November,” he added.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 694 new COVID-19 cases after three days straight of more than 1,000 new cases a day, bringing the nationwide tally to 4,011,625.

The tally of active cases also went down to 16,034, the lowest total since July 13, when 14,862 active infections were reported. — Richa Noriega/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
