I-ACT: More personnel to be deployed on EDSA Busway during Christmas season

Different government agencies will deploy more personnel on the 24/7 operation of EDSA Busway amid the Christmas season, Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (i-ACT) chief Charlie del Rosario said Thursday.

“Itong darating na Kapaskuhan, mago-augment po ang ibang ahensya ng gobyerno para madagdagan ang visibility natin sa EDSA Busway,” Del Rosario said at a public briefing.

(This coming Christmas season, other government agencies will augment their personnel to add to our visibility on EDSA Busway.)

The free ride program on EDSA Busway will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week in December.

According to Del Rosario, even before the observance of All Saints’ Day, personnel from I-ACT have already been deployed at EDSA Busway stations 24/7.

“Marami po ang mananakay na kung ginagabi po sila ay ang pakiramdam po nila ay safe po sila doon sa lugar dahil may mga kasamahan pong i-ACT,” he said.

(Many passengers feel safe going home late because we have I-ACT personnel in the area.)

Among the agencies that provided personnel to secure the EDSA Busway are the Philippine Coast Guard, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and Highway Patrol Group.

The 24/7 operations of “Libreng Sakay” are in light of the expected influx of passengers during the Christmas season and the adjusted mall hours in Metro Manila  from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
