Makati allots P158.6 million to year-end cash incentives for senior citizens
The Makati City government has allocated P158,655,500 to year-end cash incentives for 83,857 senior citizens in the city.
In a statement, Mayor Abby Binay said registered Blu Card holders in the city will receive their year-end cash grants earlier than expected.
Binay said the move would spare senior citizens from the holiday rush and would give them more time for their expenditures this Christmas season.
“We want our senior Makatizens to be happy and feel that they are loved and cared for, that is why we made sure that they receive their cash incentives from the city government early,” she said.
According to the city government, senior citizens would receive their cash incentives through their GCash accounts with corresponding amount depending to their age bracket:
- 60-69 years old: P1,500
- 70-79 years old: P2,000
- 80-89 years old: P2,500
- 90-99 years old: 5,000
As part of its expanded benefits program for senior citizens, the city government hands out their cash incentives every July and December.
Meanwhile, Binay said that seniors aged 101 and above would also receive P5,000 year-end cash incentive "provided that he/she has been a holder of a Blu Card holder for at least five years."
