Lechon buyers flock to La Loma in QC hours before Noche Buena
Hours before Noche Buena or Christmas Eve dinner on Saturday, many Filipinos trooped to La Loma in Quezon City to buy lechon (roasted pig) they can serve on the dinner table.
Buyers would come one after the other to check out the lechon being displayed outside stores, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Dobol B TV.
Many of the buyers came from outside Quezon City, such as from Marikina and Antipolo.

This is despite the recent P2,000 increase in the price of whole lechon baboy implemented by vendors as Christmas drew near.
The smallest lechon, which sold for P8,000 a week ago, now sells for P8,500.
The largest meanwhile, which had a P20,000 price tag last week, is now being sold for P22,000.
The good news is that vendors assured there is enough supply of lechon for those who want to serve it for Noche Buena on Saturday night, and that there would no longer be any price increase for the day.

Buyers were advised to haggle with vendors to get the best price, and to expect a slight build-up in traffic in La Loma.
Many delivery riders were also in La Loma on Saturday morning ready to accept online orders.
Lechon is the star at almost every Filipino celebration, including Christmas and New Year feasts.
In 2019, the lechon, along with crispy pata and kare-kare, was included in Taste Atlas’ list of 100 best dishes in the world. —KG, GMA Integrated News
