Blessing of Black Nazarene replicas starts

Devotees flocked to Quiapo Church in Manila on Tuesday for the first day of the Replica and Estandarte Blessing of the Black Nazarene.

According to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Isa Avendaño-Umali, the blessing started after the Holy Mass past 12 noon.

The blessing is scheduled until December 29. The replicas were blessed along Carriedo, the radio report said.

Earlier, Nazareno 2023 adviser Alex Irasga said traditional activities for the Feast of the Black Nazarene 2023 would be conducted except for pahalik (kissing of Black Nazarene image) and pasanan (carrying).

Instead of these activities, the feast will include pagpupugay (viewing and touching) and “walk of faith” procession, which is a parade without the Black Nazarene image.
