Vegetables, fruits, processed meat confiscated from passengers at NAIA
Personnel of the Bureau of Plant Industry and Bureau of Animal Industry confiscated vegetables, fruits, and processed meat brought by some passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
The confiscated agricultural products are broccoli, mushrooms, atis, oranges, and dragonfruit, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.
Also confiscated were processed meats such as sausages.
The products came from Xiamen in China as well as Taiwan and Canada.
The Bureau of Quarantine Service in NAIA reminded passengers that the bringing in of agricultural products without permit is not allowed since the items may have pests and affect local vegetation.
Earlier this month, 10 flight crew members of Philippine Airlines were caught bringing in undeclared fruits and vegetables from Riyadh and Dubai.
The crew members brought in onions, lemons, and strawberries which had no permits. —KG, GMA Integrated News
