More than P1 million worth of alleged shabu confiscated from father and son in QC

Authorities confiscated more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu from a father and son during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Monday.

When target Dean Dexter Bato handed the package of suspected shabu to the police asset, personnel of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 10 arrested him and his father Dexter Bato, according to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

The buy-bust operation was conducted in Barangay Immaculate Conception.

The alleged shabu confiscated weighed 150 grams.

QCPD said the father and son were named by suspects previously arrested as their sources of illegal drugs.

"Ito'y nagiging isang family business kasi po ang tatay ang taga-kwan po ng mga droga habang ang anak ay tagahatid sa mga parokyano nila ng droga," QCPD Station 10 deputy commander Police Major Mike Diaz said.

(This has become a family business because the father [sources] drugs while the son delivers them to clients.)

"Sila po ay nag-ooperate sa Barangay Immaculate Conception, Commonwealth area, at sa Bacoor, Cavite," he added.

(They operate in Barangay Immaculate Conception, Commonwealth area, and in Bacoor, Cavite.)

Diaz said the elder suspect was previously jailed in 2010 on drug charges.

"Ang tatay po ay dating nakulong sa Tacloban, Leyte sa kasong droga rin. Dahil sa plea barganing kaya siya ay nakalaya," he said.

(The father was previously jailed in Tacloban, Leyte on drug charges. But he was released due to plea bargaining.)

The elder suspect said he had no comment, while his son just shook his head when asked if the confiscated drugs were theirs.

Police is still investigating where the drugs may have been sourced.

The suspects will face charges of violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —KG, GMA Integrated News
