NCR COVID-19 positivity rate dropped below 10% threshold — OCTA

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) is now back below the 10% mark, decreasing to 9.4% as of Tuesday, data by independent monitoring group OCTA Research showed Thursday.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said that NCR’s seven-day testing positivity rate dipped from 14.6% on June 6, to 9.4% on June 13.

Positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

Hospital bed occupancy in the NCR also slightly went down to 24.1% from 25.5% over the same period.

With this, David stressed that NCR remained at “low risk” for COVID-19.

The entire Philippines on Wednesday registered 468 new COVID-19 cases, marking the second straight day with fewer than 500 cases.

The nationwide active caseload also decreased to 9,843 from 10,108 on Tuesday. This is the first time in 40 days that active cases have fallen below 10,000, according to GMA Integrated News Research. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
