Fire hits warehouse in Taguig City; estimated damage cost at P12M, BFP says

A fire broke out at a warehouse in Barangay Bagumbayan in Taguig City on Tuesday night.

The incident which affected a warehouse on Arturo Drive started past 11 p.m., according to a report by Darlene Cay on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-Taguig City said their personnel arrived in the area with the fire already engulfing the building and thick black smoke could be seen.

"Sa initial investigation po natin, sa nakalap nating information sa warehouseman, nakita daw niya na biglang lumiwanag ang bandang likod ng warehouse. So doon niya tinutumbok na maaaring nagmula 'yung apoy," an official of BFP-Taguig City said.

(In our initial investigation, the warehouseman said he saw the back of the warehouse light up. So that may be where the fire started.)

The fire quickly spread since the warehouse stocked styro products.

"Very challenging, kasi 'yung nasusunog ay styro products kung saan nag-e-emit siya ng mga fumes, makakapal na usok. Hindi natin agad ma-penetrate ang area at matumbok 'yung pinagmulan ng apoy," the BFP-Taguig City official said.

(It was very challenging [for us] because what was being engulfed were styro products which emit fumes and thick smoke. We could not immediately penetrate the area and go to where the fire started.)

It took three hours before the fire was finally put out.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Employees meanwhile did not give any statement.

The BFP is still conducting an investigation into the matter.

However, the BFP said damage to property is estimated to reach P12 million. —KG, GMA Integrated News
