LTO issues show cause order vs owner of SUV in Valenzuela road rage incident

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order against the owner of the SUV involved in the viral road rage incident in Valenzuela City on August 19.

According to a statement released by the LTO on Friday, the registered owner of the vehicle is a female residing in Bulacan.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said that the show cause order was issued in an effort to identify the male driver of the vehicle during the road rage incident.

“Gusto nating malaman kung sino ang nagmamaneho ng sasakyan na ito nung mangyari ang insidente. Gusto rin nating malaman kung nabenta na ba ang sasakyan na ito o nahiram lang,” Mendoza said.

Pending the result of the investigation, the registration of the SUV will be preventively suspended for 90 days, he added.

The owner of the vehicle has been asked to appear before the LTO-National Capital Region on September 14 to present a notarized affidavit and documents to explain why she should not be held liable for violating Section 48 of Republic Act 4136 (Reckless Driving), Section 27 of RA 4136 (Improper Person to Operate Motor Vehicles), and Section 54 of RA 4136 (Obstruction of Traffic).

Mendoza added that the LTO would work with other government agencies to identify and locate the gun-toting SUV driver.

Earlier, the Valenzuela Police said that they had deployed four tracker teams to locate the SUV driver. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
