Taguig LGU starts giving P100,000 to centenarians in EMBO barangays

Taguig City centenarians EMBO

The local government of Taguig City on Thursday started the distribution of P100,000 to the centenarians in the EMBO barangays.

In a Facebook post, the city government said 100-year-old Maura Agripa of Barangay Post Proper Southside became the first centenarian in an EMBO barangay to receive the cash gift as part of Taguig's Caring City program.

Other senior citizens would receive cash gifts worth P3,000 to P10,000, depending on their age, during their birthdays.

The local government said it will also provide free medicines, nursing services, as well as free wheelchairs, canes and hearing aids to the city's elders.

In December 2021, the Supreme Court ruled that the Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation, consisting of parcels 3 and 4, psu-2031, and the ten affected barangays in it, are part of the territory of Taguig City.

In June this year, the Supreme Court rejected the Makati City government's motion to allow it to file a second motion for reconsideration. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA Integrated News
