4 people die in Taguig City fire

At least four people died in a fire that hit a house in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City, early Thursday morning, Jhomer Apresto reported on Super Radyo dzBB.

The fire incident was reported to have occurred along Gumamela Street in Katipunan Village, based on the initial information released by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The fire started around 3:54 a.m. and was raised to the First alarm and extinguished after 40 minutes.

According to Bam Alegre’s report on “24 Oras,” the victims were possibly trapped in their room since the doors were locked.

The surviving resident of the house had slept at his friends’ house the night of the incident.

He said his mother convinced him to stay at his friend’s house after attending a party.

He immediately came home when he heard about the fire.

“Sabi ni mama may masama siyang panaginip about sa akin, naaksidente raw po ako kaya di pinatulog. Pinipilit ko umuwi tapos ayaw po talaga,” he said.

He was left with no family but his father, who is a seaman abroad.

“May tindahan sa harapan so ‘yung security nila is ‘yung padlock sinasara nila, pina-padlock. Pero susian niya, sa loob, so ‘yung access sa loob din. Then ‘yung door knob, naka-padlock din so hindi talaga sila nakalabas sa main door. So most probably ‘yung sunog is nagmula sa mga electrical appliance doon mismo sa loob ng bahay,” said BFP Taguig Fire Senior Inspector Demetrio Sablan.

Meanwhile, the mother of one of the victims mourned the passing of her son, who was just sleeping over in the house.

“‘Yung anak ko dito tumutuloy kasi nag-aaral sa Pasay, graduating anak ko, sakit talaga laki ng pangarap ng anak ko, graduating siya seaman,” she said.

The remains have yet to be identified through DNA identification, the report added. — with Sherylin Untalan/BAP/BM, GMA Integrated News
