Persons of interest in case of overcharging cabbie - MIAA


The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said it now has persons of interest (POI) in the incident of the taxi driver who overcharged a group of Taiwanese passengers as much as P10,000 each.

In a 24 Oras report by Sandra Aguinaldo, authorities have persons of interest related to the incident based on CCTV footage.

Video revealed several individuals who are possibly involved in the overcharging scam. This also includes a security guard at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) who directed the victims to the taxi driver and his companions.

“May POIs naman na tayo as reported by our security unit. We do have the CCTVs available so may mga nakita na tayo doon, said Bryan Andersen CO, MIAA Officer-in-Charge.

Authorities are looking for the cabbie who charged his Taiwanese passengers as much as P10,000 each for a ride from NAIA Terminal 3 to Terminal 4, a car ride of only 4 kilometers.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB) are among the agencies looking for the erring driver. Co said they hope to complete their investigation by next week.

Airport authorities said it will strengthen its information campaign for the public and reiterated their call for passengers to only avail of accredited taxis, shuttles or car rentals whose kiosks are located right outside the exits of NAIA terminals.—Rhoel Fernandez, GMA Integrated News
