Counterflowing e-bikers maul Marikina motorcyclist

Three e-bikers attacked and mauled a motorcyclist in Parang, Marikina after the motorcyclist attempted to correct the e-bikers for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

According to Dano Tingcungco's Monday 24 Oras report, the motorcyclist, identified as "Joey," was driving along the one-way street Sunday night when he came across two e-bikes headed in the opposite direction.

Joey tried to correct the bikers, telling them they were headed the wrong way on a one-way street.

The bikers responded by ganging up on Joey and beating him up.

Aside from bruising his face, the e-bikers also broke Joey's nose in the assault.

"Sa mukha grabe! Yung ilong niya dislocate, tapos yung mata, talaga, eh nakasalamin malabo mata kasi nun," said Joey's brother, adding that his sibling had no idea who his attackers were.

"Nung dadaan na siya may nakasalubong siya. Sinabihan niya, dalawang e-bike, sinabihan niya na, 'One way 'to, one way yung kalsada," added Joey's brother. "Nagalit pa raw sa kanya, tapos minura pa raw siya.

"Medyo nakalampas na [si Joey] ng konti, bumalik siya. Bigla na lang siyang sinuntok."

The victim's family had filed a complaint against the attackers with the barangay.

The Marikina police were also looking into the assault and spoke to Joey at his home on Monday.

While the victim's family was looking at other steps they could take, they, nevertheless, were determined to file a case against Joey's attackers. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
