Valenzuela City police Facebook page hacked

The Facebook page of Valenzuela City Police Station was hacked, according to its chief Police Colonel Salvador Destura Jr. on Tuesday.

In a statement, Destura said that for the meantime, updates and announcements will be posted on the Facebook page of “Valenzuela City Police Station PIO” until the account is recovered.

“The administrators do not have access to the account as of the moment. We urge the public to refrain from engaging with the hacked account,” Destura said.

“We apologize for this incident,” he added.

The hacked Valenzuela City Police Station Facebook page started to post lewd videos around Monday night.

As of posting time, the lewd videos were still posted on the police station’s Facebook page.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo told GMA News Online that the following police units also experienced hacking recently:

  • Police Regional Office 6 (December 29, 2023)
  • PNP Drug Enforcement Group (December 19, 2023)
  • PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (December 13, 2023)

Earlier this month, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said hackers believed to be operating in China had breached into the email systems and internal websites of several Philippine government agencies.

China, meanwhile, has dismissed as “groundless” the allegations of hacking.

At a recent Palace press briefing, DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said China is willing to help in the investigation of the cybercrimes. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
