Caloocan announces adjusted school schedules due to intense heat

The local government of Caloocan City released adjusted school schedules for classes from April 8 to April 12 due to the harsh temperatures.

In a post on Thursday, Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan announced the following schedule for Kindergarten up to Senior High School students:

Single Shift-Morning Classes

  • Monday and Tuesday: face-to-face classes, 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: asynchronous classes
  • Friday: face-to-face classes, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Afternoon Classes

  • Monday and Tuesday: asynchronous classes
  • Wednesday and Thursday: face-to-face classes, 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Friday: face-to-face classes, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

The Caloocan Schools Divisions Office also said that private schools may suspend or adjust their schedules at their discretion.

PAGASA, on Thursday, declared that seven areas nationwide may feel a dangerous level of heat index.

Classes in several different areas have been suspended or adjusted to protect the welfare of students and school personnel.

Heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels, which is computed considering air temperature and humidity, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The Department of Health advised the public to as much as possible avoid direct exposure to sunlight and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.— Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
