Suspect gave minor victim a ride, meal before raping her

A man was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old Grade 10 student in Metro Manila.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Emil Sumangil on Friday, the victim was on her way to a classmate’s house to finish an assignment when she passed by the suspect.

“Pinilit po siya na sumakay sa motor. Sinasabihan siya, marami na akong tinulungan ng mga ganito… Strangers na binibigyan ko ng pera,” said the victim’s mother “Clarisse,"

(He forced her to ride his motorcycle. He said that he already helped a lot of people... he gave money to strangers.)

The suspect said the victim willingly rode his motorcycle when he offered her a ride.

The victim’s mother said that the suspect also manipulated the victim into going to a restaurant with him before they headed to his house in San Mateo, Rizal, where the rape happened.

The suspect was quickly located through his motorcycle plate number and was identified as a former salesman with an outstanding warrant of arrest.

“Mayroong kasong kinahaharap na estafa… Sa pag-implement ng arrest, itong suspect nakuhaan siya ng deadly weapon,” said Police Colonel Ian Rosales of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

(He’s facing charges for estafa… When we implemented the arrest, the suspect had a deadly weapon.
Meanwhile, the suspect admitted to the crime and said that he didn’t know she was a minor.

“Kasalanan ko rin, nagkaroon kasi ako ng confidence na hindi mangyayari yun kasi maganda pagkakakilala naman ng bata… pero hindi ko alam na siya ay 15 years old lang,” the suspect said.

(It’s my fault, I had the confidence that this wouldn’t happen because my initial conversation with the kid went well… but I didn’t know that she was only 15 years old)

The suspect will be charged with acts of lasciviousness and child abuse.

“Itong dalawang violation na ito, naisampa na ng ating imbestigador sa prosecutor… Hindi natin ididiscount na baka mamaya ano lang ito, gawain na niya ito dati pa. Huwag po tayong maniwala agad sa mga taong di natin kilala,” said Rosales.

(Our investigator has already filed these two violations to the prosecutor… We will not discount the possibility that he has been doing this before. Let us not believe strangers right away.) —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
