4 injured as subdivision perimeter wall collapses on 3 cars

Part of a Las Piñas subdivision perimeter wall collapsed and fell on three cars on Friday, injuring four people.

According to a 24 Oras weekend report by Darlene Cay on Saturday, the incident occurred during a downpour with almost zero visibility at around 8 p.m. along River Drive in Barangay Almanza Dos.

The sudden collapse damaged two vans and another car, while four passengers received wounds and minor blows to the head.

“Sa sobrang lakas po ng ulan, gumuho po yung pader. So, ang cause po niya yung tubig. Siguro sa tagal na din ng pader, siguro naano… Tapos alam niyo naman yung tubig naghahanap ng madadaanan. Walang madaanan siguro,” said Daanghari PCP Commander Police Major Danilo Cosme Jr.

(The rain was so heavy that the wall collapsed. So, the cause was the water. Perhaps the wall was too old… Then, you know how water looks for a path. It probably found no other way)

Meanwhile, the subdivision’s homeowner’s association said that the collapse of the wall was dangerous to both the residents of the subdivision and motorists passing through River Drive.

“Sa amin po ang request po namin as [homeowner's association], gusto po namin talaga na lahat ng perimeter fence namin ay mapatibay para maiwasan po natin yung mga incidents na ganyan,” said a member of the HOA.

(Our request as HOA is for all our perimeter fences to be strengthened so we can avoid such incidents)

Vista Land told GMA Integrated News that they were closely coordinating with the owners of the damaged vehicles.

"And, to prevent the same accident from happening again,  the structural integrity of the perimeter walls shall be reviewed and measures shall be immediately implemented, if necessary," added the company.

Meanwhile, Major Cosme said that the damaged cars and the debris would be removed so motorists could pass through.

“Aalisin na po natin ang mga sasakyan doon tapos ang mga pader na gumuho icle-clear na po yung daanan para madaanan na po ng motorista. Lahat po ng may damage na pader is tatanggaliin po. Iaayos po nila lahat nung sa subdivision,” said the PCP Commander.
