Gesmundo orders probe into arrest of court employee over P6-M bribe

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo on Friday ordered an inquiry into the alleged bribery involving a Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) employee.

In a statement, Gesmundo directed Court Administrator Raul Villanueva to submit a report and recommendation on the incident on Monday, May 27.

The chief justice made the order after he received the preliminary report from the National Bureau of Investigation regarding the arrest of a Pasay RTC Branch 108 employee for accepting P6 million from a litigant in exchange for a favorable judgment in a civil case.

Following the arrest, the employee allegedly said that the exchange was upon the instruction of the presiding judge.

The SC, however, did not mention the name of the employee or the presiding judge. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
