Barangay chairman shot dead by rider in Muntinlupa City

A barangay chairman in Muntinlupa City was shot dead on Wednesday night.

According to Raffy Tima's report on "24 Oras,” a rider suddenly stopped a few meters away from the victim, chairman Ronaldo Loresca of Barangay Buli, and shot him several times.

“Pagtigil ng motor diyan, pak-pak-pak ganun kaagad kaya pagtingin ko nakasubsob na kaagad siya, may dugo dito,” said a witness.

(When the motorcycle stopped, the rider fired gunshots and when I looked at the chairman, he was already lying down in blood.)

Earlier, the Muntinlupa Police revisited the crime scene.

Another witness and a friend of the victim, ‘Dennis’, said he was just beside the chairman so the suspect may be a professional shooter since all of the gunshots who did not even leave his motorcycle, hit the chairman’s body.

“Akala nga namin noong una, sumabog na gulong ng motor, kaya nagulat sabi pa nga ni Kap, ‘aba o’, yung lang ang nabanggit niya kasi lahat kami nags-cellphone, nakayuko lahat,” he said.

(We thought at first, the wheels of the motorcycle exploded, so we were shocked and the chairman even reacted. Every one of us was on our cellphones with our heads down.)

The victim died after getting hit in his head and was rushed to the hospital.

The captain's companions that night who were his juniors and relatives, were shocked by the incident because they said they knew no reason to kill the Captain.

Asked if the victim said there were threats on his life, Dennis said, “Hindi naman siya nagku-kuwento kasi pag mga ganyan wala namang ano siya kumbaga yung mga nangyayari sa kaniya hindi siya nagsasalita talaga."

(He never said he had been receiving any threats. He doesn’t share anything as he doesn’t talk much.)

The local government of Muntinlupa, meanwhile, vowed to help with the case and will encourage anyone who knew about the crime to coordinate with the authorities.

It said that it already got a lead based on the backtracking done by the police using the CCTV of the Muntinlupa Operations Center. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
