DOTr: Elevators to operate in 5 footbridges along EDSA Busway this June
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday that elevators will be soon be operating in five footbridges along the EDSA Busway.
According to a 24 Oras report by Oscar Oida, the elevators are targeted to open by June.
“Sana by June, bago dumating ang July, maging functional na ito para makatulong sa mga pasahero sa busway,” said DOTR Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Jesus Ferdinand Ortega.
(Hopefully it becomes functional by June, before July arrives, so that it can help passengers of the busway)
The opening of the busway elevators were welcomed by passengers, especially senior citizens who find it difficult to use the footbridge.
“Hindi na ako masyado mapapagod… sana matapos na agad para sa mga katulad ko magagamit na namin,” said frequent passenger and stroke victim Herminio Domingo.
“Pagka naayos na po yan, maginhawa na. Hindi ka na mahihirapan dahil meron na elevator,” added another passenger, Josie Ramos.
(When it starts operating, it will be better. It won’t be difficult any longer because there will be an elevator.)
Meanwhile, DOTr also announced the possible opening of the first 12 stations of the MRT-7 by the end of 2025.
The 12 routes targeted to open will be from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
“Ineexpect natin na yung dalawang susunod na istasyon, which is Station 13 and 14, ay magiging operational one year after,” added DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino.
(We are expecting that the two following stations, which is Station 13 and 14, will be operational a year after.)
“This June, magkakaroon ng joint inspection with the LGU para doon sa proposed alignments nila para mapag-aralan kung ano yung magiging mas beneficial para sa constituents ng San Jose del Monte at para sa iba pang mga pasahero na gustong pumunta sa area na yon,” he added.
