Manila calls on barangays to intensify street cleanups

The City of Manila called on barangay officials to take neighborhood cleaning efforts seriously, especially every weekend, including the cleaning of street gutters to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

According to Carlo Mateo’s reports on Super Radyo dzBB, a canal on Antipolo Street in Tondo had become a dumpsite despite a tall fence built around it.

The report said styrofoam packaging, single-use plastics, and other garbage clogged the canal.

Residents of Barangay 218, Zone 80 were worried about possible dengue cases, calling for the immediate cleanup of the canal.

Meanwhile, Divisoria's Recto Avenue was cleaned up on Saturday morning following the previous day's night market.
