2 'hotheaded' murder suspects arrested separately

Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents in Valenzuela City which allegedly started due to their hotheadedness.

According to Mark Salazar's report on "24 Oras," when the first suspect was arrested on Tuesday at his hideout in Camarines Sur, he told the investigator why he got angry with his neighbor in Palasan, Valenzuela.

The first suspect said he observed that his neighbor always try to make a pass at his daughter whenever she buys from his store.

“Kasi tuwing bumibili lagi siyang nanghahawak. ‘Di niya alam nasa gilid lang ako ng kanyang tindahan hindi niya alam naririnig ko sinasabi niya kaya nagawa ko siyang saktan,” the suspect told the police.

(Because every time she buys, he always holds her hand. He doesn't know that I'm just on the side of his store, he doesn't know that I have been hearing him, and that drove me to hurt him.)

On August 6, the suspect allegedly sneaked inside the store owner's house in Valenzuela and beat him on the head.

“E pagpalo ko sa kanya nakakuha siya ng bote pinalo niya sakin kaya ako nasugatan hindi ko naman siya balak patayin e, gumanti pa kasi siya sakin,” he added, noting that he did that alone.

(I hit him, he got a bottle and hit me, too, that's why I was injured, I didn't intend to kill him but he retaliated.)

The police said that based on the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), the incident was murder because of the victim's multiple injuries.

“Nag-process ang ating Northern Police District field unit natin ng SOCO, that’s the time na nakita namin na yung pagkakapatay sa ating biktima ay talagang murder because of the sustained multiple injuries especially sa head,” said Police Colonel Nixon Cayaban, chief of the Valenzuela City Police.

The suspect refused to give a statement.

Meanwhile, the second suspect, 23 years old, hit a fellow construction worker on the leg and head with a steel bar.

“Sa ano na lang po ako magsasalita sa korte na lang po (I will just talk in the court) ,” he said.

The police said it is still assessing the morive for the killing.

“Hindi ko nga rin maintindihan dahil ang nagkaroon ng altercation is yung biktima tsaka yung star witness, sila lang. Biglang sumulpot lang tong suspek,” said Cayaban.

(I don't understand, because it was the victim and the star witness who had an altercation.  The suspect suddenly appeared.)

There is no evidence that the suspects were addicted to alcohol or drugs, police said. It added that it would also look into the hotheadedness of the two suspects. —Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
