Senior citizen arrested in Navotas for alleged acts of lasciviousness

A 67-year old former barangay tanod was arrested in Navotas on Wednesday for alleged acts of lasciviousness towards a five-year old during the latter’s birthday party in October 2024.

The accused was nabbed by virtue of a warrant for acts of lasciviousness issued by a court in Navotas.

PLtCol. Randolf Asuncion, Navotas City assistant chief of police for administration, said the accused helped in preparing the tent for the victim’s birthday party held at a Navotas basketball court. 

“Noong ala-una nang madaling araw na, habang naglalaro ‘yung bata, nilapitan ng suspek, binuhat at kinalong sa kaniyang binti and then, ayon sa salaysay ng bata, hinawakan ‘yung maselang bahagi ng bata,” Asuncion said. 

(While the child was playing around 1 a.m., the suspect came up to her, carried and sat her on his thigh and, according to the child, he touched her private area.) 

Citing the victim’s testimony, police said the accused allegedly did it again until the victim’s mother saw them. 

“Noong nakita ng nanay, tinawag ‘yung bata para umuwi na sila. Pag-uwi nila, tinanong na nung nanay kung anong ginawa sa kaniya at isinalaysay ng bata na ‘yun daw ang ginawa ng suspek,” Asuncion added. 

(When the mother saw what happened, she called her child so they could go home. When they got to their house, she asked the child about what he did to her, and the child narrated what the accused had done.) 

The accused, however, denied the allegation. 

He said the child was playing on a cellphone resting on her thigh. 

When the cellphone fell, the accused recalled: “Kinuha ko. Nilagay ko rito. Akala siguro ng nanay niya, nung bata, may ginagawa ako sa bata pero wala. Hindi naman ho kasi totoo ‘yung binibintang sa akin. Ang mga kalaro nun, mga apo ko rin ho eh.” 

(I got it and returned it to where it was. The child’s mom must have thought I did something to her but I didn’t. The allegations are not true. She’s playmates with my grandchildren.) 

The accused is now detained at the Navotas police station. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
