Metro Manila crimes down in 1st 46 days of 2025 — PNP
A senior police official on Wednesday said there was a decrease of almost 22% on the crime incidence in Metro Manila in the first 46 days of 2025.
''Ang binaba po is 21.71% to be exact,'' Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said at a Palace press briefing.
(It went down by 21.71%.)
''All of the robbery incidents and theft incidents went down, ang tumaas lang po is iyong carnapping at saka if my memory serves me right a little of homicide if I’m not mistaken. The rest po bumaba po lahat ng mga krimen compared to the same period last year (The rest of the crimes went down compared to the same period last year),'' Aberin added.
In the same briefing, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said there have been eight kidnap cases that were reported for this year.
Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group director Police Colonel Elmer Ragay said all of the victims of these kidnapping incidents have been released.
''We are still investigating three out of the eight cases,'' Ragay said.
In 2024, Ragay said a total of 32 kidnapping incidents were recorded by the PNP.
''Out of these 32 incidents, 17 were solved; seven were cleared; and eight are still under investigation. And that gives us a solution, efficiency of 75%,'' Ragay said.
''Kung iku-compare po natin is (If we're going to compare), January last year to January this year, January of last year, we recorded six; January of this year, we recorded four. But for the current month of February, we already have three. Hindi lang po ako sure how many iyong February last year,'' he added. — RF, GMA Integrated News
