90% of EDSA busway station timers now operational — DOTr
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Friday that 90% of station timers at the EDSA busway or EDSA carousel are now operational.
In a statement, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said that commuters using the bus rapid transit system can now expect a more efficient flow of buses.
(I am happy to report that 90% of 45-second timers at the EDSA Busway stops are now working.)
To ensure that bus drivers comply with the 45-second lay-by, Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) enforcers have been stationed at each north and southbound station.
(Two enforcers are assigned at each bus stop’s north and southbound. They’ll be the ones reminding bus drivers about the 45-second time limit at every stop so that there will be clogging at the bus stops and cause traffic build-up.)
The Transport chief expressed confidence that bus operators and drivers will comply.
The DOTr is also fast-tracking the repairs of remaining station timers to complete the immediate improvements of the entire signaling system, ensuring smoother operations and enhanced safety for commuters, according to Dizon. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
