NBI nabs Thailand-bound woman for alleged human trafficking at NAIA

The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a woman passenger on a flight to Thailand at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for alleged human trafficking.

According to a statement on Thursday, the NBI said three Filipinos bound for Thailand were endorsed to the NBI after presenting several documents from the suspect’s alleged organization.

Further investigation into the case revealed that two of the victims pretended to be missionary volunteers, and were intending to take up teaching jobs in Thailand.

Upon checking with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), it was verified that the suspect’s organization did not have a license or authorization to recruit workers for overseas deployment, which led to her arrest. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
