Some Bicol trips at PITX fully booked ahead of Holy Week

Some trips to the Bicol Region at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) are fully booked ahead of the Holy Week.

In Dano Tingcungco’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” a passenger said she and her family opted to travel this week since there is work waiting for her husband in Bicol.

Meanwhile, another passenger said she took the opportunity to travel early since her children are on vacation.

“Bukod sa may holiday in between kaya napapaaga ang pag-uwi, meron pang ibang may sine-celebrate yung mga kababayan natin tulad ng moving up ceremonies kaya sa tingin natin mula April 9 hanggang sa April 23, makakaranas tayo ng matinding bilang ng mga pasahero,” said PITX spokesperson Jason Salvador.

(Aside from the holiday in between, which makes it easier for passengers to travel, they are also celebrating other events such as moving up ceremonies, so we think that from April 9 to April 23, we will experience an influx of passengers.)

Some trips are already fully booked, such as the air-conditioned buses going to Bulan, Sorsogon, forcing some passengers liketo travel 14 hours in an ordinary bus.

Meanwhile, trips to Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Albay from April 7 to 17 (Maundy Thursday) have been fully booked since Sunday evening.

Some ordinary bus trips to Sorsogon and Albay are also sold out.

PITX said it is expecting about 2.5 million passengers traveling for the Holy Week.

Its management added that it is good that some Filipinos are traveling early to avoid the expected congestion.

However, PITX assured that there will be buses to cater to the influx of passengers for the holiday.

“Nakikipag coordinate sa mga local government units, mga tollways and traffic agencies to make sure na maayos ang ingress and egress ng mga bus natin sa Metro Manila upang sa ganon masundo, mahatid yung mga kababayan natin sa efficient,” Salvador said.
