3 pretending to be cops nabbed in Manila
Three men were arrested in Binondo, Manila, after they pretended to be members of the Philippine National Police.
According to Super Radyo dzBB’s Carlo Mateo on Tuesday, the suspects have undergone inquest proceedings following charges filed against them by the Manila Police District - usurpation of authority, illegal use of PNP’s uniform, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and violation of the election gun ban.
National Capital Region Police Office director Police Major Gen. Anthony Aberin said that one of the suspects was a dismissed police officer.
Investigation showed that the suspects were targeting a jewelry shop and plotting to kidnap its owner.
Meanwhile, MPD director Brigadier General Benigno Guzman said that the authorities are already looking for five other accomplices.
The group is said to be involved in cases of robbery and holdup in other parts of the country, as well as kidnapping and murder. –NB, GMA Integrated News
