DBP: Red plate SUV on EDSA Busway not ours
The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) said Friday the red plated sports utility vehicle (SUV), whose driver evaded traffic enforcers after being accosted for illegally using the EDSA busway near Ortigas Station, is not owned by the bank.
In a statement, the DBP said it will work closely with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) once its receives the show cause order concerning the white SUV in question with a red plate allegedly registered to DBP.
“Based on our records, the DBP has never owned nor maintained a white (SUV) that matches the description in the publicized reports of DOTr Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation,” the bank said.
“Moreover, the original plate in question remains in the possession of DBP,” it said.
On Thursday, the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) said it is now looking for the driver of the SUV, who accelerated in a reckless bid to flee after being flagged for entering the EDSA Busway.
The SAIT has found that the SUV’s plate number did not match the registered vehicle type, “suggesting potential fraud.”
Authorities are now trying to determine the identity of the SUV driver.
The DBP, meanwhile, said it will extend its full cooperation to transport authorities to prevent a recurrence of this incident and to ensure that the personalities will be held accountable.
The bank said it is “one with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the country’s transport systems as well as upholding road safety and accountability.” — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
