Honey Lacuna concedes defeat in Manila mayoral race
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna on Tuesday afternoon conceded defeat for mayor of Manila City in the 2025 Philippine elections.
Based on partial and unofficial results, Lacuna currently ranks second in the city’s mayoral race, garnering 190,087 votes as of 3:42 p.m.
“Buong kababaang loob nating tinatanggap ang kapasyahan ng higit ng nakararami sa atin,” Lacuna said in a video posted on Facebook.
(We humbly accept the decision of the majority among us.)
(Thank you for giving me the opportunity to become the first female mayor in Manila.)
Isko Moreno
As of 3:42 p.m. Former Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno is on top of the tally with 527,600 votes.
However, Moreno has yet to be proclaimed as mayor.
Patiently waiting lang po tayo sa gedli,” he said in a separate post.
(The people of Manila waited almost three years for us to return; what’s a few more hours of waiting for the official proclamation? Let’s just wait patiently on the sidelines.)
(The canvassers decided to postpone the proclamation of the winning candidates in the City of Manila to this afternoon because the transmission of the manual ballots has not yet been completed.)
Earlier, Sam Versoza also conceded in the mayoral race in the city. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
