NBI arrests ex-Manila councilor allegedly involved in kidnap for ransom case


The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Thursday it arrested a former Manila councilor who is suspected of being involved in a kidnapping for ransom case.

The NBI said it nabbed former Councilor Roderick Valbuena after he arrived from Las Vegas on May 20 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Agents from the NBI- International Airport Investigation Division (IAID) were immediately dispatched arrest Valbuena immediately upon his arrival.

According to the bureau, Valbuena is currently under the custody of the NBI detention facility in Muntinlupa City.

Valbuena is one of the five accused in a kidnapping for ransom case that was filed at the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 61. —Joahna Lei Casilao/RF, GMA Integrated News
