Woman smashes bus door with baseball bat in Pasay road rage incident
A woman with a baseball bat shattered the glass door of a passenger bus in a road rage incident along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.
According to a report by Mark Salazar on 24 Oras, the altercation, which took place around 9 a.m. yesterday, was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a heated exchange between the drivers of a spot utility vehicle and a Jell Transport bus.
The video uploader, who was the conductor of another Jell Transport bus following the first, recounted the incident.
"Ki-nut na po ng private car itong kasamahan namin. Bago bumaba po si ma'am, yung may-ari nga po ng private car, may hawak po siyang tumbler, pinukpok na po yung harap ng salamin ng kasama. Salamin ng bus ng kasamahan namin."
(The private car cut off our colleague. The woman—the owner of the private car—got out, she was holding a tumbler and struck the front glass of our colleague’s bus.)
Tensions quickly escalated as the irate woman returned.
"Bumalik si ma'am, parang medyo nagkaka, kasi may parang nag speak na akala ko, tinatawanan pa ng kasamahan namin. Mas lalo na galit tong si ma'am, pumuha po ng parang matigas na bagay, na parang baseball bat. Doon po nangyari. Doon na po yung actual na, nung pagkakuha po na, doon ko po na sakto na video po yung pangyayari na yun."
(The woman returned, seemingly more agitated, maybe because of something that was said that she thought was laughter from our colleague. She became angrier, picked up a hard object, like a baseball bat. That’s when it happened. That’s the exact moment I managed to catch it on video.)
The incident continued with shouting and cursing, with the bus crew trying to defend themselves.
"Wala kayong karapatang basagin yung ano," said one of the employees.
(You have no right to break that.)
The conductor explained their side, denying any serious wrongdoing on their colleague’s part.
The uploader defended his colleagues, “They claimed they were going to die. But I don’t think anything like that happened because, for one, their vehicle wasn’t even scratched.”
He added that bus drivers avoid accidents as much as possible and that if their colleague really did something wrong, the motorist should have reported them to the company.
Jell Transport management confirmed the SUV owners have reached out in an attempt to settle the matter amicably.
