2-year-old girl snatched from family while sleeping on sidewalk in QC

Authorities arrested a man for allegedly molesting a two-year-old girl he kidnapped along a sidewalk in Quezon City.

In John Consulta’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” CCTV footage showed that the suspect was walking when he saw the girl sleeping with her family along the sidewalk early in the morning.

A woman saw the suspect snatching the girl and woke up her family, who were scrap collectors.

Two men attempted to chase the suspect but failed as he quickly rode a jeepney.

At 7 a.m., authorities saved the same girl, who was reported to have been molested.

The mother said she was shocked to find her child was gone upon waking up.

She added that the suspect allegedly slapped the victim.

Meanwhile, the suspect said he kidnapped the child to make her beg on the streets.

“Pasensya na po nagawa ko sa anak niyo. Humihingi ako ng tawad (I’m sorry for what I did to the child),” the suspect said.

According to the police, the suspect has previous records of abusing a minor and kidnapping a child.

He also has robbery cases in 2016 and 2022.

The suspect will be facing charges for kidnapping and violating the expanded law on rape. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
