LTO suspends driver's license of vlogger for 90 days for reckless driving
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday suspended for 90 days the driver's license of a vlogger seen in a viral video driving in a reckless manner, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Saturday.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the DOTr and the LTO will not allow such irresponsible driving as this may pose a danger to road users such as commuters and pedestrians.
“Paulit-ulit na utos ng Pangulo na dapat ay ligtas ang kalsada para sa lahat. Hindi natin tino-tolerate ang iresponsable at reckless na pagmamaneho,” Dizon said, according to a DOTr press release.
(The President has repeatedly ordered that the roads should be kept safe for all. We do not tolerate irresponsible and reckless driving.)
The LTO on Friday issued a show cause order to Cherrylyn Larga Gonzaga a.k.a. Cherry White to explain why she should not be administratively charged for reckless driving and why her driver's license should not be suspended or revoked for being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.
"Based on the information gathered, Ms. Cherry White was seen seated in a casual or lounging posture with one leg raised onto the driver's seat. She appeared disengaged from proper vehicle operation, thereby endangering the safety of other road users," the LTO said in the show cause order.
Cherry White was ordered to appear before the LTO on Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. to explain the matter.
Her vehicle was also placed under alarm, "preventing any and all transactions while under investigation," the LTO added.
Dizon then urged the public to continue to report to the DOTr or LTO instances of motorists violating traffic laws. —KG, GMA Integrated News
