Churches report flooding, seek assistance

A church in Barangay Tandang Sora in Quezon City was affected by the chest-deep floods that damaged a wall of the covered court and is seeking help to retrieve items washed away by the flood.

"Napinsala ng baha ang bahagi ng pader ng covered court sa ating parish-shrine dahil na din sa walang tigil na buhos ng ulan ngayong araw. Umabot sa lampas dibdib ang tubig na pumasok sa malaking bahagi ng parking area," according to the post of the Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish and Shrine of the Incarnation.

(Part of the wall of the covered court at our parish-shrine was damaged by floodwaters due to the incessant rain today. The water reached chest-high and entered a large part of the parking area.)

According to the video recording of Fr. Romel Cruz, the parochial vicar, the carosa or float that is used for religious statues during processions and some items stored in the covered court were swept away by the flood after the wall collapsed.

The video also shows a vehicle submerged in floodwaters.

"Humihingi ng tulong ang ating dambana sa mga maaaring tumulong mula sa ating pamayanan na mabuhat ang mga karosa at mga natangay na kagamitan pabalik sa ating court kapag mas ligtas na ang lagay ng panahon," the announcement said.

(Our shrine is asking for help from those who can help from our community to carry the floats and swept equipment back to our court when the weather conditions are safer.)

The UST Santo Rosario Parish posted a photo of the floodwaters at the entrance door.
