Two bodies found in Marikina River

Two unidentified bodies were found floating in the Marikina River on Thursday following the recent severe weather in the country.

According to EJ Gomez’s report in “24 Oras” on Friday, a group of fishermen first discovered one of the bodies.

Local responders and personnel from the parks development office retrieved the body from the river. Authorities did not find bruises on the man’s body, the report said.

“Wala siyang pantaas, naka-short pants na black, then short hair, medium built,” said Police Col. Geoffrey Ferna, Marikina Police chief, adding that the victim could be around 32 to 35 years old and approximately standing 5 foor 4 inches.

(He’s shirtless and was only wearing black shorts. He also has short hair and is medium built.)

“Walang nakitang injuries external sa katawan, probability na nalunod siya,” he added.

(There were no injuries found externally in his body, so he probably drowned.)

Meanwhile, another body was found in the river on the same day. The face is bleeding, has a tattoo on the back, and was only wearing shorts.

“[Noong] nagdaan na bagyo at habagat, walang reported dito sa Marikina na casualties at mga missing person. Baka galing sila sa ibang lugar at naanod. Nananawagan kami na kung ganun ang description, maaring tignan nila,” said Fernandez.

(After the typhoons and the habagat, Marikina did not report any casualties or missing persons. They could be from other places and were carried away by the water. We are asking the families who have missing loved ones to check these if they match with the descriptions.)

The police already gathered DNA samples from the bodies to help in their identification. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
