HPG intel officer shot in Makati car wash
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said Tuesday an intelligence officer was hospitalized after being shot several times at a car wash in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City.
HPG spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang said that on August 1, two armed perpetrators approached the victim—who was with his 17-year-old child—and tried to grab his necklace.
The victim ran but one of the suspects chased him and shot him several times. A witness was also hit by a stray bullet. The two assailants were seen wearing helmets.
"Sa initial na impormasyon po natin, we recovered 14 cartridges at siyam na bala ang tumama po sa dito sa ating personnel. Isa po sa balikat, tiyan, at hita po," Malang told reporters in an interview.
(Initial information shows that we recovered 14 cartridges and nine bullets hit our personnel. He suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder, stomach, and thigh.)
"Ngayon po, we are still praying na magtuloy-tuloy ang kanyang kondisyon at sa panayam po natin sa kanyang pamilya ngayong umaga ay nasa stable ang kanyang kondisyon," he added.
(Now, we are still praying that his condition will continue and, based on our interview with his family this morning, his condition is stable.)
The suspects took the victim's necklace, phone, and service firearm.
Afterwards, the suspects fled onboard their motorcycle.
Investigators are looking into all possible motives behind the attack, including robbery and the HPG intelligence officer's job, according to Malang.
"Bago pa man mangyari, itong scenario na ito ay preparation po niya para kitain sana 'yung ating isang confidential agent para sa kanyang hinahawakang case operational plan," Malang said.
(Before it even happened, this scenario was his preparation to meet our confidential agent for the case operational plan he was handling.)
According to Malang, the victim's 17-year-old child was traumatized after the incident. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
