2 suspects in international school student's kidnapping in Taguig surrendered —PNP-AKG

Two of the suspects in the kidnapping of a 14-year-old Chinese student in an international school in Taguig City last February have surrendered to authorities, the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said Monday.

In a press briefing, the PNP-AKG said that on September 3, an arrest warrant was also issued to the suspects identified as 62-year-old “Tatang” and 27-year-old “Marv” following their surrender.

“Sumuko po sila sa AKG (They surrendered to the AKG),” PNP-AKG public information office chief Police Major Eleonor Villaruz said.

“Sa pagsuko pong iyon, naka-file na po 'yung complaint. And to cut it short, dumating po si warrant then we served it na po. Dalawa po 'yung arrested natin,” she added.

(When they surrendered, the complaint was already filed. And to cut it short, the warrant arrived then we served it. We arrested two people.)

They are facing a complaint for kidnapping for ransom with homicide.

According to Villaruz, the two suspects turned themselves in to authorities because they felt pressured after they were identified as among the people responsible for the kidnapping.

The PNP-AKG official said they are still looking for five more suspects who are still at large.

On February 20, a student of an international school in Taguig City was kidnapped. The perpetrators asked for $20 million ransom through Telegram.

The victim's driver was found dead with stab wounds in San Rafael, Bulacan on February 21.

On February 25, the student was rescued near C5 bridge in Taguig. —KG, GMA Integrated News
