Several individuals arrested for illegal online gambling in QC
Several individuals were arrested on Thursday evening in Quezon City due to illegal online gambling operations.
According to Jamie Santos’ report on “Saksi,” the suspects were apprehended by a joint team from the Quezon City Police District, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology - Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center.
The PCSO said that the STL operator's authority to operate expired on July 14.
Among the items seized during the operation are the paraphernalia used for gambling, cellphones, and cash, among others.
The PCSO said that illegal gambling activities could affect its services, such as medical assistance to charities.
Authorities are currently studying the charges that will be filed against the suspects.
The suspects claimed to be merely tellers at the raided outlet, asserting that the owners were in the process of renewing the license, according to the report. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA Integrated News
