DOTr: Student beep card to be launched Sept. 20

The Department of Transportation announced Saturday that the Student Beep Cards will be launched on September 20, 2025.

The Beep Cards will automatically grant a 50% discount to student passengers taking the LRT-1, LRT-2 and MRT-3, based on President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s order to make to make commuting more affordable and convenient.

The DOTr said launch was earlier postponed for several days due to “systems issues” which Transport Secretary Giovanni Lopez said have been resolved.

“Inutusan ko po ang team natin na tapusin agad ang mga problema sa system dahil alam kong matagal na itong inaabangan ng mga estudyanteng pasahero. Kung kailangang hindi matulog, hindi kami matutulog para ma-launch na natin agad ito,” said Lopez.

(I instructed our team to immediately fix the system problem since the cards have long been anticipated by our student passengers. If it means sleepless nights, we will make sure this gets launched.) 

Starting Sept. 20, on-the-spot printing will be offered for student beep cards as well as the white beep cards for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., the said cards will only take a few minutes fto produce for students, seniors and PWDs para makuha ang kanilang white beep cards. — RF, GMA Integrated News
