Students, nuns hold anti-corruption protest outside La Salle

Students and nuns criticized corruption in government in a protest held outside De La Salle University in Manila on Friday evening.

In a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Luisito Santos, a nun urged motorists on Taft Avenue to honk their horns to express their anger and frustration.

To denounce dishonest government officials, several demonstrators displayed banners in the shape of crocodiles.

Among those who took part in the protest were students from DLSU, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, and St. Scholastica's College Manila.

Several groups have organized protests scheduled for Sunday in Manila and other parts of the country amid reports of corruption in government infrastructure projects, especially those intended for flood control.

The controversy, now the subject of separate inquiries by a Palace-formed commission and Congress, has implicated some lawmakers, district engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways, and contractors. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
