1 died from stabbing after Manila protest — DOH
One unidentified male passed away due to stabbing after a protest against corruption along Recto in Manila on Sunday, the Department of Health said Monday.
According to the DOH, the man was declared dead on arrival at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC).
Meanwhile, 48 others were brought to the hospital.
Two cops sustained minor injuries such as laceration and bruises.
The DOH said six other individuals sustained a gunshot wound, a cut on their feet, eye trauma, head trauma, injury in the veins of their left arm, and a cut on their arm.
Four left the hospital after treatment while two have been admitted.
Aside from this, 39 rallyists are undergoing physical examination as part of the process before detention. There is no immediate threat to their health, according to the DOH.
“Tinitiyak ng DOH na sakop pa rin ng Zero Balance Billing ang mga pasyenteng ito,” Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said in a statement.
