Boy dragged, beaten inside hotel in Manila amid September 21 protest
A viral video online caught a Special Weapons and Tactics member dragging a boy, who allegedly caused a disturbance during the September 21 protest.
According to Maki Pulido’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” the boy was dragged to the second floor of a hotel along Recto Avenue in Manila, where some men beat him up.
Despite the boy’s cries and pleas, the police officer allegedly did not stop the beating.
GMA Integrated News is reaching out to the Manila Police District and the hotel management for comments.
GMA News Online also reached out to the Philippine National Police Public Information Office for comment, but it has yet to reply.
The hotel temporarily halted its operations for repairs after several people threw objects at its facade.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has also talked with the hotel management.
Further, the rogue protesters hit the LED advertising boards and some traffic lights along Recto Avenue and Taft Avenue.
Some also burned down a motorcycle along Recto Avenue and the wheels of a trailer truck along Ayala Bridge.
The Manila local government has cleaned up the mess left by the rioters. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
