Motorbike passenger fatally shot in Quezon City
A 34-year-old man was fatally shot by a motorcycle rider along Kasing-Kasing St. in Barangay East Kamias, Quezon City on Tuesday.
In Jame Agustin’s “24 Oras” report, CCTV footage showed that a motorcycle was about to park, followed by another motorcycle at 2:30 a.m.
The suspect riding the second motorcycle shot the victim, who was the passenger of the first motorcycle, after the latter disembarked the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the victim’s friend ran away after the suspect pointed a gun at him.
Barangay tanods responded to the incident as the barangay hall was near. They attempted to block the suspect’s motorcycle but to no avail.
According to the barangay captain, the armed suspect also threatened to shoot the barangay tanods.
The victim was brought to the hospital but died due to a gunshot wound to his chest.
Initial investigation showed that the victim and his friend had bought food and were on their way back to their rented place when the shooting occurred.
The suspect also allegedly took the victim’s watch and bracelet.
The victim’s brother said the incident was unexpected. He thought of two possible motives for the crime but did not disclose them.
Authorities are conducting a follow-up operation to identify the suspect.
The victim’s family is hoping that justice will be served and that the suspect will be arrested. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
