QC: Ready for Ramil; conducts preemptive evacuation in Tatalon
A Quezon City government official said Sunday it is closely monitoring developments as Tropical Storm Ramil approaches the metropolis.
In an interview over Super Radyo dzBB, Peachy de Leon, Quezon City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) said pre-disaster risk assessments were conducted since Friday with other agencies of the local government.

Quezon City was among the areas in Luzon that were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 as Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshen) moved over Manila Bay, PAGASA said late Sunday morning.
De Leon said Quezon City has three staging areas have been pre-positioned in Districts 1, 4 and the DRRMO building.These will have first responder teams and their equipment that will be on stand-by for emergencies.
She said no flooding has been reported but preemptive evacuations have been declared, with nine families currently staying in evacuation centers in Barangay Tatalon.
As to the possibility of no classes or work on Monday, a declaration is still under review based on on ongoing monitoring of weather updates from state weather bureau PAGASA. De Leon advised the public to monitor the city’s official social media accounts for announcements as early as 4 a.m.
The LGU is closely observing the city’s flood-prone areas, particularly Districts 1 and 4 as well as the water levels of four waterways. La Mesa Dam is presently at 1st alarm.
Residents are advised to check the official Quezon City government page on Facebook for weather updates and to heed barangay evacuation announcements or their safety.
Evacuation centers will provide hot meals, clean water and dry shelter. These are also staffed with health personnel who will monitor their welfare, de Leon said.
