UV Express driver in Commonwealth Ave. crash faces murder raps
Murder was among the several charges filed against the UV Express driver who plowed through 14 vehicles on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, that left one person dead, according to police on Monday.
In a press briefing, QC Police Station 14 head Police Lieutenant Colonel Jefry Gamboa said the complaints were filed on October 18.
“Nakapag-file po tayo ng murder, frustrated murder, malicious mischief, abandonment of one's own victim, resistance and disobedience to a person of authority, and the Republic Act No. 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013,” Gamboa said.

On October 17, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the incident occurred in front of the Commission on Human Rights’ office in Barangay UP Campus.
Police said the suspect was on the eastbound lane of the avenue from Elliptical Road headed to Fairview when the incident occurred.
The suspect’s vehicle rammed 14 motorcycle riders and continued to accelerate before making a U-turn at Tandang Sora Avenue. The fleeing suspect collided with more vehicles before being apprehended.
Aside from the lone fatality, three more persons were injured.
The QCPD said the suspect tested positive for illegal drugs. —RF, GMA Integrated News
