Face-to-face classes in Manila resume Nov. 19 after INC rally ends
Face-to-face classes in all levels in the City of Manila will resume on Wednesday, November 19 after the conclusion of the two-day anti-corruption protest by the Iglesia Ni Cristo at Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said Tuesday.
“According to Mayor (Isko) Domagoso, schools may now proceed with normal operations following the orderly conclusion of the two-day Iglesia ni Cristo Peace Rally at the Quirino Grandstand and nearby areas,” the Manila PIO said in a statement.
The city government earlier ordered Manila schools to shift to alternative delivery mode from November 17 to 18 for the supposedly three-day protest by the religious group that kicked off last Sunday, November 16.
However, the peace rally already ended on Monday after INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala said they did not need three days to achieve their goal and send a message calling for transparency and better governance.
The Manila PIO added that the local government “has also completed its perimeter support operations, including cleanup and traffic assistance efforts, ensuring that students can safely return to their classes.” —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
